Mother in law is being ridiculous! Please give me your opinion of this?

Well.. go on and spit.. make yourself feel better! Just kidding! I know how you feel with the mother in laws I know how they can be. Maybe you can make a deal with her. Maybe you can tell her you will bring your son ever other weekend and if she wants to see him more often she has to come and if she doesn't and she complains just ignore it, there is nothing you can do, you have done your part. I know how it is driving with a screaming child but also you don't want him to completely get used to never going anywhere because you want him to start getting in the habit of going places so you don't always have to be locked down in the house. So really every other weekend would be good for him too. Good luck!
